Twitterview with Allison Janney

Posted by on Wednesday, 29 September, 2010

@JoelECarlson – Hello everyone and welcome to today’s Twitterview of @allisonjanney. Lets start it off on the right (correct) foot!

@allisonjanney – Thanks for having me! Hello, #jectv followers and fans.

Q – #1    So @allisonjanney, where did you grow up, what HS did you attend and where did you go to college?

A: Grew up in St. Michael-Albertville, MN. Made famous for the Albertville Outlets. But, I rarely shop there.

Freshly graduated from St. Thomas in May with Business and Communication/Journalism degrees.

Q – #2    Good for you! :) So where have you worked/interned over the past few years?

A: The internship question always has people thinking I’m a little nuts.

JoelECarlson From 07- 10 -> Friends of the Orphans, @FaithsLodge, St. Thomas, @megaphonepr, WCCO-TV, @exponentpr

A total of six internships in three years. But, they ranged from 3 months to 2 yrs in length.

Currently, happily employed as an Associate @exponentpr

Q – #3    Why would they think you’re nuts? Now at @WCCO, didn’t you work with that @DeRushaJ fellow? What was that like?

A: It was horrible. All I did was get @DeRushaJ coffee :)

Obviously kidding. @DeRushaJ is a talented reporter and great boss. Always lots of laughs with the #GoodQuestion team.

Best day was tagging along on unveiling of hot dogs @TargetField for #GoodQuestion. YUM.

Q – #4    @DeRushaJ seems like he’d be a good boss. He’s a #SocialMediaGiant locally. Do you have a dream job?

A: Working at @exponentpr was on my vision board for 2 yrs prior to hiring.

I think it’s more important to have a dream role than specific organization.

For me, that’s being able to use my skills to do what I’m most passionate about. #

Q – #5     Great! So what Social Media tools do you use and have they helped you personally or professionally?

A: Well, it’s no secret Twitter has been an instrumental tool in my last two positions.

Also regular user of the usual suspects: Foursquare and Facebook for mostly personal utility.

I love Twitter because it allows pros to be more accessible than ever. Virtual networking is crucial in the industry.

Q – #6    I see. So do you have any unique badges on Foursquare that you’ve earned? How many places are you the mayor of?

A: I joke I’m not a good enough consumer for Foursquare. Bad at frequent check-ins

Proud mayor of @exponentpr. Does work count? @SethOrNone and I have been battling.

Q – #7    Sure it does. Now to the FAVS: Favorite – restaurant, store, fall activity, gadget and stress reliever.

A: Big fan of Broder’s Pasta Bar in Linden Hills. Panera Bread for daily dining.

Banana Republic for clothes. Of course, @Target for clothes and everything else.

Walking/running around Summit Ave and Mississippi Blvd. in St. Paul. I miss the neighborhood.

Typical and unoriginal, my iPhone is my fifth limb.

Stress relief can go either way: a weekend of sleep or a weekend of beer. No yoga for me.

Q – #8    If you could invite any 1 person (dead/alive) for dinner, who would you choose and why?

A: That’s a toughie! Give me a minute.

I’m a huge #MadMen fan. So the creator, Matthew Weiner, and Jon Hamm

Or… @cbetancourtpR and @ElleryLuse :)

Q – #9    The question was 1 PERSON. But I’ll let it go. To end today, what final thought or mantra would you like to share?

A: Haha I’ve always been a little social.

Words to live by: Work hard. Have fun. Be Kind. It really is that simple.

Thanks for having me!

@JoelECarlson – Thank you @allisonjanney for sharing some of your life and thoughts today. You have a great afternoon!

Twitterview with Alecia Puppe

Posted by on Monday, 27 September, 2010

@JoelECarlson – Hello everyone and welcome to the Twitterivew of @AleciaPuppe this morning. Lets get started!

@AleciaPuppeExcellent!

Q – #1    So @AleciaPuppe, where did you grow up and what college did you attend?

A: I’m from Apple Valley, Minn., and a born and raised Gopher, so naturally I went to the University of Minnesota-TC!

Q – #2    I see. Now what did you study at the #UofM? What was your major and your minor?

A: I was a journalism-public relations major and I minored in French studies. Je parle le Francais un peu

Q – #3    Bon Jour @AleciaPuppe! So in taking French, have have you ever studied abroad?

A: I have! I studied in Montpellier, France, which is a large college-town off the Mediterranean for a semester..

Q – #4    I see. So how much schooling do you have in the French language, and do you Tweet in French much?

A: I studied the French language for around eight years, in high school and then in college.

Ever since I’ve been back from studying abroad, I haven’t found an outlet to practice French regularly.

I haven’t tried tweeting in French, but i’m sure there are plenty French-speaking tweeters out there to converse with!

Q – #5    So since you were in France, what have you thought of the French restaurant and bakery offerings in the Twin Cities?

A: I’m still trying to find a more traditional French bakery in the Twin Cities.

Real French baguettes/croissants are pretty hard to copy & are what I miss the most since I’ve been back in the states

so if anyone knows of any good French bakeries in town let me know!

Q – #6    @AleciaPuppe Maybe someone following can suggest a good French bakery for you to try. FAVS:restaurant, store, Fall activity & gadget.

A: favorite restaurant: Carbones on Randolph in St. Paul http://www.carbonesonrandolph.com/ – #bestpizzaever

Favorite store: have to say @Target because it’s amazing and I have five family members who work for the organization.

Favorite fall activity: Football – whether that be watching college & pro or playing in the backyard with my brother.

Favorite gadget: My @BlackBerry, don’t know how I lived without it before I got it about six months ago. BBM is my life

Q – #7    Cool. To end today, what mantra would you like to share, and what do you think will happen to the Twins & FB-Gophers?

A: Might be a cliche but I live by it… “work hard, play harder”

#Twins are going all the way! <3 #SKOL Vikings and all my love to the #Gophers… they need as much as they can get!

Thanks for the twitterview, it was fun and thanks to all for your recommendations on a French bakery. Happy monday!

@JoelECarlson – Thank you @AleciaPuppe, and have a great afternoon!

Twitterview (2.0) with Nicole Harrison

Posted by on Friday, 24 September, 2010

@JoelECarlson – Hello everyone, and welcome to the Twitterview 2.0 of local social media titan @SocialNicole! Lets get this thing rolling!

@SocialNicole – Hi Joel, glad to make it, this time… :)

Q – #1    So @SocialNicole, how did you come up with your Twiter handle, and how has #nptalk been going for you?

A: that’s a great question, my twitter handle…My name was taken, so I did my name with an underscore…

that seemed boring, so one day I was brainstorming and it just hit me…socialnicole sounded good, easy to remember

and when I decide to do something I usually do it without too much thought, so the name was available and I took it.

nptalk has been amazing, the community continues to grow. I feel so fortunate to get to be a part of this wonderful group of ppl.

each week, i meet new ppl, but we also have lots of regulars who participate and share, it’s really a nice resource #nptalk

Recently I have had 2 new ppl join volunteer for #nptalk @jjmillard who does the transcript and @hannahfeder who writes the summary.

With @jjmillard and @hannahfeder helping out, it has made follow up much easier and more manageable…nice reference for ppl #nptalk

Q – #2    @SocialNicole What moved you to start #nptalk, and what kind of topics have you been able to cover?

A: One day last March I was asking lots of questions about fundraising on Twitter, got like 20 ppl in a discussion, tagged it

during that @marcseyon from trinidad, one of my fav twitter ppl, dm’d me and told me I should start a chat…

I said, what? I don’t know how to do that…and so @marcseyon dm’d me all the details and

that same day I asked the people who joined the discussion what they thought of a chat, they said yes, do it…

so I officially started it that day, like I said when I have an idea I usually run with it, or when others give me a good idea…

we have talked about all kinds of things facebook, facebook fan pages, twitter, SEO, Website development, advocacy w/social media,

fundraising, professional development, content creation, enewsletters, you name it we have or will be talking about it…

social media plans, getting “buy in” from leadership, social media marketing, training staff to use social media….

Q – #3    In addition to your #nptalk, what kinds of events have you attended lately, and what have you volunteered for?

A: I was a volunteer for the #sethgodinmpls event last month, I just attended the #nme10 in chicago Tuesday which was awesome!

#Nme10 new marketing experiment put on by @nmlteam @chrisbrogan’s company, met amazing people, learned so much…

Met @AmberCadabra @TheTimHayden @DavidBThomas @cbarger @paulaberg @DavidBaeza @justinlevy @georgeju @geoffh just to name a few #nme10

and I cannot wait to go to #bwe10 in October…good times… :)

Q – #4    Something else happened to you this summer. You purchased the #iPhone4. How has your experience been with it?

A: Ha ha…I think you are baiting me… I LOVE APPLE, I LOVE IPHONES!!!! I LOVE MACS!!!

even if iPhone 4 is the worse actual phone I have ever owned, it drops calls all the time…and I get terrible service in my house

errible service with AT&T in my house, that sits in the city between two tours and I have a microcell to help but it does not good

but the iphone 4 rocks for everything else, just because drop calls all day long…I hate talking on the phone anyway, so it’s ok :)

the iphone 4 is super fast and I love the new os on it, and the screen is super sensitive and I like everything, except calling ppl

and i hate AT&T and cannot wait for apple to drop the contract with them…but otherwise life is good… :)

Q – #5    So iPhone4 = Good, AT&T = Bad. Now you took a very big and adult step this summer with your business. What happened?

A: Yes, I hired a designer @grandciel, who made me a fab logo and I hired a lawyer @mplslawyer who made me an LLC and now I’m a grown up

You can see my new logo and business info at www.socialnicole.com

Q – #6    That must feel good! In addition to that, with a name like @SocialNicole, you must do some speaking. Any this summer?

A: I did a presentation at the University of St. Catherine for their Summer Leadership Series about….social media and career growth

and I spoke with @girlmeetsgeek at #jmu612 about Linkedin…that was fun…

and I have a few more speaking things coming up mid october…so the speaking/training gig is going well…it’s fun and…

and I get to meet a lot of new people every time I present…so it keeps me…social… :)

Q – #7    On a different level… how do you manage with having your own biz, pets and kids? Are you getting the hang of it?

A: my puppies waiting to go to dog park #jectv #TwitPict http://twitpic.com/2rlq6x

Ha ha ha…everyday is an adventure…working from home can be challenging the dogs are very spoiled, fortunately kids are in school.

but I love it…lots of flexibility…just have to manage time well…yes, I am getting the hang of it… :)

Q – #8    Good! Now earlier you mentioned #bwe10. What is that about, and what are you hoping to learn? Is it a BIG Conf?

A: Ha ha #bwe10 is a fairly big conference…blog world expo, it’s all about blogging and social media stuff…in vegas…

I am excited to attend #bwe10, will hang out with a lot of minnesota people but also get to meet a lot of people I know on twitter…

I think about 4000 people attend?…

I am sure I will learn tons of blogging and social media stuff, my focus will probably be on SEO, that’s been a big focus of mine…

Q – #9    So what plans/goals do you have for yourself for the next year or so? For your biz and professionally.

A: I am just planning on growing my business, I have great clients and enjoy the work, doing more speaking and I want to write more…

I want to blog 3 or more times per week, so I am working on getting better at actually finishing the posts…

I also hope that #nptalk will grow and continue to serve people, perhaps we will branch out and get our own website…

And of course continue to grow my IRL network along with my social networks. I love all the people I get to meet and enjoy…

building relationships and connecting people and making things happen. That is really what I love, helping people reach their goals.

@JoelECarlson – That all sounds good @SocialNicole! Enjoy your weekend and keep up the good work. Thanks for your time today. :)

@SocialNicole – Thank you @joelecarlson…and you keep doing great things…your Twitterviews are great, love the new website…and thanks for all…

Thanks @joelecarlson for all the great things you do in the community, you have helped with so many great events…thank you.

Twitterivew with Crystal Grobe

Posted by on Friday, 24 September, 2010

@JoelECarlson – Hello everybody, and welcome to an early AM Twitterview with @cafecyan. Grab your coffee and lets get Tweet’n. :)

Q – #1    So @cafecyan, how did you come up with your Twitter handle and where did you grow up?

A: My Twitter handle is my blog name, a combo of my name and my husband’s name, Ryan.

I also used to be in print photography, so cyan was a color I often did color corrections with. Grew up in good ‘ol Burnsville, MN

Q – #2    I see. So what HS did you attend and then what kind of schooling or training did you get after that?

A: Went to Burnsville High School, then to Arizona State (too much $$) so I transferred to U of WI – La Crosse after a year of fun.

My degree is in Human Resources and I’m also professionally certified (oolala, fancy). I was a total business geek.

Q – #3    Interesting! So how did you transfer from biz interest into your food interest?

A: I have been writing Cafe Cyan since 2006 as a hobby to keep track of the new recipes we were creating/making…

I was inspired by the vegan and vegetarian bloggers out there doing cool stuff with vegetables; there was a great community going on.

Laid off last year after 8+ years in recruiting (love recruiting, btw) & 2 weeks after layoff, @WCCO asked me to start a food blog.

I decided to put my career on pause and run with the food thing. I’ve accomplished a lot in the last year. It’s been a blast!

Q – #4    Neat! So in addition to recipes, how else do you cover food topics on your blog?

A: It’s mostly a food journal, but I also share stories from vacations, events, and talk about unique ingredients like black garlic.

A few of us bloggers have started a bread baking club and are baking our way through @ArtisanBreadIn5 Anyone is welcome!

On my @WCCO blog, Bite of Minnesota, I write about local farmers markets & using local ingredients. I want people to experience!

I have just started writing about events & restaurant happenings on @hotdishblog & write restaurant features for @TCFOODFINDS.

Q – #5    What are some local bakeries or local grocery/co-op’s that you’d recommend?

A: I try to bake my own bread, but Great Harvest Bread is close to me and works in a pinch.

I love Mississippi Market Co-op, but @VNFCoop is closer for me. I also love stopping at the fancy stores like Lunds and Kowalskis.

Q – #6    You know your local food places! Nice to be a little diverse in your work too! So what is your favorite comfort food?

A: I lean towards carbs for comfort food: pizza, garlic bread, potato and tortilla chips, mac & cheese.

But, if I’m in need of a pick-me-up, I drink freshly squeezed lemon juice w/salt. It perks me up & makes me feel comforted.

Q – #7    Also, what’s your favorite: Restaurant, cooking utensil store, cooking gadget and unique food?

A: Restaurant: @omminneapolis & French Meadow Bakery. I really don’t have a fav cooking utensil store (I already have enough!)

Cooking gadget: either my immersion blender or microplane grater. Use them both ALL the time.

Unique food: I’m really into black garlic right now & use in everything. I also love spirulina (in smoothies) & nutritional yeast.

Q – #8    Cool! So what’s your thought on healthy eating? Do you think more people are starting to give it more attention?

A: I thing we all TRY to eat healthier but I don’t think it is happening consistently enough.

I often tell people to focus on getting your fruits, veg, and whole grains first. The rest will fall into place naturally.

Q – #9    I can’t believe the hour is almost up! You’re fun to chat with. :) What advice or mantra would you like to end with today?

A: It’s been fun! I challenge people to get out of their comfort zones and try something new – make life exciting – YOU control it.

@JoelECarlson – Thanks for your time and for sharing today! Have a great day and a super weekend!

@cafecyan – Thanks @JoelECarlson! This has been fun and I appreciated your questions. Have a great day too!

How should Michael Scott leave “The Office”?

Posted by on Thursday, 23 September, 2010

For 7 seasons, Michael Scott has been the leader of his department with Dunder Mifflin.   We have seen him bumble through most of his life and work, with many laughs along the way. Now this season will be different, because the actor Steve Carell, who plays Michael Scott on “The Office”, has said it will be his last season on the show.  So now what do the writers do?  How do they have Michael Scott leave the show? Will Michael quit? Will he get fired? Will he become a life-coach? Will he marry and move to another country? Who knows! You can be sure though that it will be both funny and memorable. So here are some ideas…

1) At the end of the final episode of the season, Micheal wakes up in bed, turns the light on and then motions to wake up his now wife, Holly. Holly says “What’s wrong Michael?” Michael then says “I just had this terrible dream that I managed this team of people for a company that sold paper. Isn’t that crazy?” To which Holly says “It sure is. Your an inn keeper at an inn in Vermont.” (Laugh track) *** Screen fades to black. ***  - Idea from “Newhart” final espisode

2) Michael leaves his office to go on a vacation to an exotic island. He’s settled into his room and stays for a few days, while growing a beard. He then appears napping on a beach and then wakes up quickly while shouting “I have to go back!” (Screen goes black and an ominous tone is played. Then “The Office” in white lettering is displayed with the black background.) – Idea from LOST

3) Michael gets called to the corporate offices of the company that has taken over Dunder Mifflin. He’s told go to a NY boardroom and find out about his future with the company.  He then goes to the front lobby and gives his name. The hostess says that they are ready for him in the boardroom. He walks in and sees Jo Bennett (Kathy Bates) and Donald Trump as himself. Michael says “What’s going on?” and Jo says “Have a seat Michael. Mr. Trump and myself have been analyzing your performance, and we’re not too happy with the results you’ve had.” Michael: “So what are you saying?” Donald Trump: “We have no other choice Michael… Michael, your Fired!” (With his standard hand gesture) Michael acts in shock, and as he walks out, he says “Thanks for the opportunity.” He then walks to the elevator, and the door closes. (On screen is the view of the elevator doors with the show name “The Office” printed across the doors. The song “Money Money Money” by the O’Jays plays in the background.  - Idea from “The Apprentice”

There are numerous ways the season could end with Michael Scott leaving? What do you think should happen?

Twitterview With Minne (@lakecreature)

Posted by on Wednesday, 22 September, 2010

@JoelECarlson – On a gray and wet day, it seems appropriate to have a Twitterview with the @lakecreature. Lets dive in! #PunIntended

Q – #1    So @lakecreature, how long have you been in Minnesota, and how did you get your name?

A:    Let’s see

this would be my second year in Minnesota…

ha missed the name thing…

Last year the Minneapolis Parks Foundation had a naming contest and well…Minne won!

I like that name don’t you?

It fits because of my small, petite frame…right?

and of course my small head…

just a lake creature, waiting for my interviewer to ask me another question…simply lake creature…swimming in Lake Nokomis…la la

Q – #2    So how many lakes have you visited this year, and how do people normally respond to you?

A:    Let’s see…first there was Powderhorn…they loved me over there…a lot of the response was surprise…

They didn’t think the Lake Creature would come to their little Lake, thought I only hung out in the big Lakes in Minneapolis..

I love Powderhorn, the neighborhood was awesome…people visited me everyday and still come visit me on Facebook and Twitter….

they ask me to come back, which is sweet and I probably will at some point… :)

Then there was my home lake, Lake Harriet…This is a lake I spend time in every year…

Lake Harriet is so much fun, they even have a little platform built so you humans can step out a bit to see me…very nice…

Lots of ducks and I especially like the concerts that happen there…

Lots of people to visit with all the time at Lake Harriet…and I will be back there again next summer at some point.

Finally Lake Nokomis…

I live in the Lagoon over at Lake Nokomis…love watching the cars go by…

it’s fun to see the drivers expressions when they see me for the 1st time

and of course there are lots of airplanes which is fun…I like watching them fly by…and think of all the place I have yet to visit

People at Lake Nokomis have been totally awesome, fun crowd…love them! Love all Minneapolis people…Minneapolis is home to me…

Q – #3    Now you work for the Minneapolis Park & Rec Board right? How do they compensate you? Food? Free lake access?

A:    No I do not work for the Minneapolis Park and Rec Board…I work for no one..I am a lake creature!

My family is the Minneapolis Parks Foundation…let’s be clear that is foundation…the private nonprofit representation for citizens

The Minneapolis Parks Foundation sponsor me, they make sure I get fed, have lake access, pay for my transportation when I need it

This is their website, check it out…Minneapolis Parks Foundation http://bit.ly/avjVFf

Q – #4    My mistake! :) Your treatment sounds wonderful. Are children ever intimidated at first? Are you lonely at night?

A:    Children love me…but ok, some of the wee humans do look at me in awe…it’s a lot for those little humans to comprehend

but you big humans love me too and sometimes I think the big humans are more scared when they first see me…

I think the mid sized humans “get” me the best…I think they are the ones who in human age are from 4yo-9yo..

Some nights get lonely…it depends…I have lots of creature friends…ducks, fish, dragonflies…birds…an occasional stray dog…

Q – #5    How about the local bird population, do they land on you or nest on you? Can people bring you a treat?

A:    Birds and I are “tight” like we go together like sha na na na na ding a ding a dong…they land on me and sometime sleep on me…

I am well fed, but humans may bring healthy treats, leave it at the shore or throw in lake, same things you feed ducks…

no preservatives, no meat, nothing with chemicals…remember we all have to share the lakes…

I do like mosquitos…but humans don’t need to bring them to me…they seem to be around always…

so let’s see what else…birds do not nest on me, I have a no nesting policy…they respect that you know…they are cool like that!

Q – #6    So @lakecreature, what time of year can people of the Twin Cities see you in the lakes, and when do you “hibernate” for the year?

A:    Humans may catch a glimpse of me in the lakes from April until end of September…

where, I will never tell…that’s a surprise…you have find me…

Although now that I have this twitter thingy and facebook thingy I tend to talk a lot about where I am at…

I like that I have a way to communicate with you humans…it would be nice if you would learn how to speak lake creature…

I mean come on…it’s like you just focus on your own language…ughh

For the winter I like to kick around a little different places…depends on my mood…

but Florida is one of my destinations each year…

My family and it is big…all come together in Florida for a big Lake Creature Family reunion each year…

and I mean big, like lots of us and we take up a lot of space, cuz well let’s face it we are not small

Nessie, the loch ness “monster” – I hate when we are called that… she comes usually…she’s my great great aunt…

It’s a secret location in Florida, so I can’t tell you where…otherwise the media would flock there…

It’s like you humans have never seen a gathering of gigantic lake creatures before…I mean really…

Have you ever searched lake creature on Twitter Joel?

so if you search Lake creature on Twitter, you will see a bunch of silly humans sharing stories, real media articles of lake creature

Lake creature sitings…all over…it’s crazy…like people are afraid we are going to eat them….really…we have better taste …

better taste than to eat humans…and I know humans would not eat us…right joel? right Joel? Joel…joel…where are you?

ooops was that you Joel that I just ate? sorry…oh well…end of interview…

ha ha just kidding I didn’t eat Joel, I’m a vegetarian…

So back to the interview…really Joel are you there?

Q – #7    So with being in MN for about 2 summers so far, have you made an good Twitter friends? Who are some of them?

A:    I have so many awesome Twitter friends…it would take me all day to list them all to you…

@studioloraine @JoppaThoughts @amanjo @rribbitz @skeetswrites @Zachamon @ChikageWindler @completelydark @Felizchica @lulugrimm

@Nylons @Seanotd @ButMadNNW @cleverkate @astercafe @whereitblooms @TTZero @DotWonder @enKaneCo and so many more

cant list all my friends…i’m am just too close to too many people…and now I hope someone’s feelings are not hurt..I list everyone

@JoelECarlson – Don’t worry everybody, the @lakecreature has not eaten me. But I don’t like that look in his eyes. Back to the @lakecreature. :)

@lakecreature – I am a vegetarian…although if I was not…well we won’t go there..

WHERE THINGS STARTED GETTING CRAZY……..

@lakecreature – you did not ask me about some of the cools stuff I did this year…so I will just ask myself…

so Minne, what are some of the cool things you did this year?

Well Joel, I got to watch the milk carton race, where tons of kids built lake creature boats out of milk cartons http://bit.ly/bgVzD9

And then there was the @mpls_bike_tour last sunday, see pics here… http://www.facebook.com/LakeCreature?ref=ts

And I am a big supporter of #30daysofbiking cuz ya’all come biking to see me…

and well that’s just a few cool things from this year…

Q – #8    What kind of goals have you set for yourself for next years MN visit, and will you be single for a long time?

A:    Now to next year…goals…

@JoelECarlson – @GRLitman needs to throw the penalty flag. The @lakecreature isn’t supposed to ask the questions. The @lakecreature is out of control!

Let’s see, to raise enough money so I can cont to be in the Mpls Lakes… http://bit.ly/bkWh2U it’s humans like u that keep me going

@JoelECarlson you need to get a bit out of control Joel…come on…let’s dance! :)

whoo hoo shake it Joel…you go man…you got it…

My next goal will be to update my website…www.lakecreature.com I want my Twitter conversations to show up there… and I want to…

be able to talk back to people when they comment…did you see the free coloring blook …that’s cool http://bit.ly/cESc7J

@JoelECarlson – I think I need to say “Get the Net” or “We need a bigger boat” about right now. :) You are funny @lakecreature!

Another goal will be to start a Minne line of apparel…I’m thinking I may be a fashion icon…

and I want to go to lots of events….did you see my Mini me at the @mpls_bike_tour? yeah it was cool? http://bit.ly/cI5FCe

My biggest goal will be to keep people interested in the parks and lakes in Minneapolis…get outside and enjoy…it’s beautiful here

As far as being single…that is way too personal Joel, anyway I hear you’re married…

@JoelECarlson – @lakecreature You have been THE most entertaining Twitterview I’ve EVER had. Please take a bow and share a departing thought.

@lakecreature – Any other questions from others besides Joel…ask them ask them…right Joel…it’s ok?!

My parting thoughts are: 1) Make sure you thank the Mpls Parks foundation supporting me and consider donating http://bit.ly/bkWh2U

Parting thought #2 Check out my YouTube Channel to learn more about how I was made and such http://bit.ly/bgVzD9

3) Learn to speak Lake Creature…dang it anyway you darn humans!!!!!

4) Tell Joel to post a video of himself getting out of control…dancing…it is funny you should see him here at Lake Nokomis! LOL

5) Join my Facebook Fanpage http://www.facebook.com/LakeCreature

6) Get outside and enjoy this beautiful weather and yes even today when it is a bit chilled and a bit wet…live…love…be happy…

Life is too short to sit on that couch…come out and enjoy the parks and the lakes…and me before I leave…

p.s. Joel…I don’t bow…my body type does not permit such behavior…that is a human thing…remember I am a Lake Creature!

@lakecreature – Oh and I love Cherry Coke as @cleverkate will tell you… 2 liter bottles with extra long straws…

oh and I really love restaurant food so if you are out…bring me a few dozen entrees…k thx…

oh and …Joel…where did he go?…oh there he is still dancing…

Joel…Joel…Joel…that human…silly silly human…

Joel never said goodbye to me…so sad :(

@JoelECarlson – Good-bye @lakecreature! You’ve made many humans happy today and made many good memories on a gray day. Thank you!

@JoelECarlson – Hello everyone, and welcome to today’s Twitterview with @Zackolantern. Lets get things started. :)

Q – #1    So @zackolantern, where did you grow up and how did you come up with your Twitter handle?

A:    Hi Joel. Thx for having me. Grew up just west of Mpls. I made up my handle on a whim – 2 years later, it’s still here.

Who knew this Twitter thing would stick around? I figured I’d never wind up using it a whole lot. Go figure.

Q – #2    I see. So what HS did you attend, and what kind of schooling/training did you get after HS?

A:    Went to Hopkins HS. BA in Political Science @ GWU and MA in Communications & Technology @ Georgetown after that.

Q – #3    WOW! That’s some smarts! So what were some of the jobs you had coming out of college that led you to what you do now?

A:    I was all over the place. A few yrs at @warnermusic, a few yrs at @amprog and @campusprogress. All marketing focused.

Q – #4    So would you say that you have you’re dream job now, or has marketing in general always been your dream work?

A:    Absolutely a dream gig. I have a ton of freedom at @20tonideas – there’s an enormous amount of trust around this place.

Trust translates into entrepreneurial spirit among those of us working on new platforms & tools. No internal barriers.

Q – #5     So what is your specific role at @20tonideas, and does Social Media play a role in your work at all?

A:    I’m sr. social media strategist. I put together strategies that help our clients take advantage of emerging platforms

Online interaction shifted seismically over past few years – continues to as people become familiar w/ new tech…

… so I keep our marketing in tune with an audience whose preferences and competencies are evolving every day.

Q – #6    Sounds like a job with challenges and rewards. Lets change it up. What’s your favorite: restaurant, store and gadget?

A:    1. Brasa. 2. Apple Store (I’d be lying if I said anywhere else). 3. Turntable. Almost counts as “unplugging”

Q – #7    Apple seems to be a popular brand amongst my guests. Despite AT&T issues and ADOBE-Flash battles. Why do you like them?

A:    I mean, I still have a Powerbook 165 at home. I’m a bit of a loyalist. Apple and Subaru. It’s in my blood or something.

For someone whose job is thinking about the future… I’m totally set in my ways. Crappy iPhone service notwithstanding

Q – #8    I understand. So to end, what advice or mantra would you like to share with everyone today?

A:    Advice? Don’t take things too seriously. That about sums it up. Thanks for having me, Joel

@JoelECarlson – Thank YOU @zackolantern.  I appreciated your participation and all that you had to share today! Have a great afternoon!
